Our Story

Chrissie Rucker started The White Company in August 1993 with a clear vision to create a company that specialised in supplying stylish, white, designer quality items for the home that were affordable. Today, the company that began its life as a 12 page mail order brochure is still proudly family owned and has become one of the UK's leading lifestyle Brands.

The White Company is an established multi channel business sending customers inspirational new brochures throughout the year, with a highly successful website and a growing portfolio of beautiful retail stores. There are now forty three UK stores including Lifestyle stores in Edinburgh and Symons Street, London, three UK outlet stores, five UK concessions plus ten franchises in the Middle East. Retail is proving to be just as successful as mail order, collectively The White Company's sales were approximately £116 million last year. 

During the lifetime of the business, the product range has diversified across a number of sectors, all focused on the customer's home and family and now including furniture, home accessories and dining, clothing for adults and children alongside the core ranges for the bedroom, bathroom and gift. Throughout this period of rapid growth, The White Company continues to retain a firm grasp of its core values, identity and philosophy. It is totally focused on the customer and the need to supply them with an edited collection of impeccably designed products that are of the finest quality and at outstanding value for money and principally in white. To support this, the business is passionate about providing a customer service and shopping experience that is second to none and is consistent across all channels.
